What Are Kangoo Jumps?
Kangoo Jumps is a high-intensity cardio workout. It is performed on spring-loaded rebound boots that absorb joint impact, all while maintaining full cardiovascular demand for a really effective workout. The boots contain a built-in shock absorption system in the sole. This means each landing is cushioned. As a result, much of the load and stress that would normally travel through your ankle, knee, and lower back is absorbed before it ever gets the chance to reach those joints, helping to keep them protected.
The effect of this is a portable rebounding surface that travels with you every step. You get the same increased heart rate and huge calorie burn of running or HIIT, but without the painful, cumulative joint stress that makes those formats unsustainable for many women over a long period of time.
It should be understood very clearly that Kangoo Jump classes are neither gentle nor easy. It is a very high-intensity class with loud music and a lot of sweat, just with low impact on your joints.
Benefits of Kangoo Jumps for Women
The headline benefit of Kangoo Jumps is calorie burn at a rate that is comparable to running, all without the cumulative joint loading. A single session activates the entire body, including the glutes, core, and legs. There are also dynamic arm movements that bring the upper body into the workout in addition to the lower body and core.
Most women begin to notice significant changes after weeks of regular attendance. Consistent practice is key! The most consistent participants quickly notice that they have improved cardio endurance, as well as better balance and coordination. It doesn’t take long to see changes in full-body strength and muscle tone, particularly in the legs and core.
Rebounding also supports lymphatic drainage. This is a special benefit of Kangoo Jumps that is not a part of running, cycling, and most other types of cardio.
The joint protection element is also a significant benefit. Many women who regularly work out eventually reach a point where running on a treadmill or attending a HIIT class becomes difficult to sustain due to chronic pain.
Kangoo Jumps gives ladies this exact same cardio demand, but in a format that’s gentler on both the knees and ankles. For women returning from injury or managing joint sensitivity, this could be the difference between training and staying at home.
On top of all of these physical benefits, there’s a significant mental benefit too. Kangoo Jumps are fun. With the music and movement, the boots turn your cardio session into something that is exciting, rather than a chore you are forced to do a few times a week.

Movements & Exercises in a Kangoo Jumps Class
Kangoo Jump classes are built around a choreography of core movements, which are all performed in boots. When combined, they create a full-body session that works the cardiovascular system, as well as all the major muscle groups.
- Jump Squats: This combines lower-body strength with a cardio spike.
- Power Lunges: This works the glutes and thighs, activating stabilizing muscles.
- High Knees: This engages the core and pushes the heart rate.
- Burpees: This is a full-body exercise, working both the upper and lower body.
- Dynamic Arm Movements: This brings the shoulders, chest, and upper back into the workout.
Using set intervals, all the movements rotate into a choreographed dance set to music. The class works by having high-intensity moments, followed by short recovery, then intensity again.
What to Expect in Your First Kangoo Jumps Class
The opening five minutes of Kangoo Jump classes are focused on the rebound boots.
The first thing your certified Kangoo instructor will do is fit you with the right size of boot. If it’s your first-ever time, they’ll make sure to walk you through standing and giving you tips for basic balance on a spring sole. Most women at BODIFY classes are moving comfortably within a few minutes.
From there, the class follows a clear structure.
It begins with a warm-up that raises your heart rate gently. This also has the benefit of preparing your points for the upcoming work. The class then leads into the main part of the session, which builds through choreographed intervals. High-intensity bursts are alternated with active recovery rounds. The whole thing is set to music that creates the pace. A cool-down then closes out the session.
If you decide to attend a Kangoo Jumps class, don’t forget to bring fitted activewear (leggings and a sports bra or fitted top) and thick athletic socks, which make a real difference inside the boot.
You should also bring water and a small towel. The boots are provided. You don’t need to bring anything else, except the willingness to bounce!
