Our certified instructors – Alina, Ksenia, and Marianna – follow a structured approach to belly dance classes. Each class is divided into several stages. We start with a light warm-up to prepare your hips, core, shoulders, and spine. After that, the instructor will gradually explain the choreography breakdown. Normally, we learn the choreo over several classes to master the skill and be able to perform the combination with body control and confidence.
Beginners often start with sharp percussive movements, such as hip drops and hip lifts, then move into fluid patterns, such as figure 8s, infinity loops, and hip circles. Also, you can try simple shimmies, isolations, and a short choreography combination.
Our certified instructors focus on slightly different types of belly dance, including Egyptian style, Saidi elements, and fitness-oriented belly dancing that helps improve your posture, coordination, plasticity, and body confidence.
What to wear at a belly dance class at Bodify? The most comfortable option is wearing leggings and a crop top. Additionally, we recommend you bring socks or (if it’s ok for you) dance barefoot. To better feel your basic movements, you can use a hip scarf or coin belt. We recommend you take it with you to class or ask an instructor to lend you one (typically, there are 1 or 2 items available). If you like it, you can buy a hip scarf or a coin belt at our studios.
